M is for Manhole Cover - Original
“M is for Manhole Cover” - part of my drawing series Japan A to Z
8” x 10” (unframed size)
Frame included in price
Paint pens on paper
All of the manhole covers in Japan have designs on them! The idea started when there was a nationwide campaign to improve the image of the sewage system. Usually, the design contains elements based on the local area. I’ve seen a few over the years, but I chose this one (that I hadn’t seen in person) from Tama City for a couple of reasons:
- I LOVE Hello Kitty
- my middle name is Tama (hence, Tama Press)
I loved living in Japan and having the chance to explore this part of my heritage. This series is a collection of icons, inventions, and memories experienced in this amazing country.
